A Christmas Carol - Sensory Friendly Performance
On November 25th, Lyric Music Theater will be presenting a Sensory Friendly matinee of A Christmas Carol: The Musical at 2:30PM. We have been inspired by The Theater Development Fund’s Autism Theater Initiative, which offers special Broadway performances in a welcoming environment for family and friends with children or adults on the Autism Spectrum or who have other sensory needs. Lyric has previously presented Sensory Friendly matinees of Beauty and the Beast and Little Women and is proud to continue to present community theater that is accessible to all members of our community.
Audiences will enjoy a full performance of this family-friendly classic. Environmental conditions will be adjusted to create a welcoming atmosphere for patrons including soft lighting in the theater during the performance, an awareness of the effects of loud noises and jarring lighting effects on those with environmental sensitivities, and activity areas in the lobby for those who need to leave their seats during the performance.
Lyric Music Theater is committed to removing barriers to attending theater productions. In addition to the presentation of Sensory Friendly performances, the first Saturday performance of every show features ASL interpretation for the D/deaf and Hard of Hearing communities. ASL interpretation will also be provided on November 25th for those who need both a sensory friendly and language accessible experience.
To make sure that theater is accessible to our community members, admission to the Sensory Friendly performance will be offered free-of-charge to all patrons who would benefit from this experience, as well as their friends, family and caregivers. Seating will be general admission. We ask that you invite members of your organization or community and let us know how many seats you would need for your organization or group so we can assure adequate space for everyone in our theater. While walk-ins on the day of the performance are allowed, we cannot guarantee seat availability.
For more information or to let us know how many seats you/your organization or group need, e-mail Lyric at SpecialEvents@lyricmusictheater.org. Tickets to the all other performances are available by contacting the box office directly by phone (799-1421) or at firstname.lastname@example.org.
