Job Location: Riverview Psychiatric Center, Augusta
Disability Rights Maine, a progressive non-profit organization whose mission is to advance and enforce the civil and human rights of individuals with disabilities, has an opening for a part-time mental health advocate located at Riverview Psychiatric Center (RPC) in Augusta, ME.
The duties include representing individuals with mental illness who are currently hospitalized at Riverview Psychiatric Center, or who have been recently discharged and are receiving services in the community, conducting regular trainings for both staff and residents of RPC, and working with hospital administration to resolve systemic concerns.
Qualifications include experience working with individuals with mental illness, the ability to develop and pursue effective advocacy strategies and work effectively with a wide range of professionals. The successful candidate will be expected to work with a high degree of independence, while working within DRM’s team-oriented atmosphere.
