Developmental Services Advocate

Disability Rights Maine (DRM), a progressive non-profit organization whose mission is to advance and enforce the civil and human rights of individuals with disabilities, has an opening for a Developmental Services Advocacy (DSA) Advocate in Caribou.

The successful candidate will join DRM's DSA team of advocates and attorneys located in Caribou, Portland, Lewiston, Augusta/Rockland, and Bangor. Duties will include providing direct advocacy; responding to reported rights violations; attending regional review team meetings reviewing the use of behavior management plans; participating in Person-Centered Planning meetings; conducting outreach and training; and working toward systemic change.

Qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree or relevant life experience; ability to master policy areas; develop and pursue innovative high-impact advocacy strategies; and work effectively with a wide range of interests. The successful candidate will be expected to execute projects with a high degree of independence, while working within DRM’s team-oriented atmosphere.
