Disability Rights Maine (DRM), a progressive non-profit organization whose mission is to ensure autonomy, inclusion, equality, and access for people with disabilities in Maine, has an opening for a full or part-time Developmental Services Advocacy (DSA) Attorney or Advocate in Aroostook County.

The successful candidate will join DRM's DSA team of advocates and attorneys located in Caribou, Portland, Lewiston, Augusta/Rockland, and Bangor. Duties will include providing direct advocacy; responding to reported rights violations; attending regional review team meetings reviewing the use of behavior management plans; participating in Person-Centered Planning meetings; conducting outreach and training; and working toward systemic change.

Qualifications include: strong commitment to social justice and the rights of people with disabilities; ability to master rules, regulations, and policy areas; ability to develop and pursue innovative high-impact advocacy strategies; and strong communication skills. The successful candidate will be expected to execute projects with a high degree of independence, while working within DRM’s team-oriented atmosphere.
