Children's Civil Rights Advocate

Job Location: Augusta or Falmouth with Statewide Travel

Disability Rights Maine, a progressive non-profit organization whose mission is to ensure autonomy, inclusion, equality, and access for people with disabilities in Maine, has an opening for a children’s advocate.

The duties include representing children with disabilities in negotiations and meetings, representing the interests of children with disabilities and their families on various state level workgroups, working toward systemic change, and presenting training and other public education efforts throughout the state.

Qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree or other relevant life experience; the ability to master regulations and policy; strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written; and the ability to develop and pursue innovative high impact advocacy strategies. The successful candidate will be expected to execute projects with a high degree of independence, while working within DRM’s team-oriented atmosphere. This position includes regular travel throughout Maine.
