Administrative Assistant/Advocate


Job Location: Falmouth, with flexibility for remote work options. This position includes regular travel throughout Maine.

Disability Rights Maine, a progressive non-profit organization whose mission is to advance justice and equality by enforcing rights and expanding opportunities for people with disabilities in Maine, has an opening for a full-time Administrative Assistant/Advocate to join our Developmental Disabilities Advocacy Team.

Position Summary:

This entry level, progressively responsible position is ideal for those interested in the law and civil rights. The Administrative Assistant/Advocate role will be focused on issues of discrimination and rights violations of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, working as part of a team of lawyers and advocates. Duties include significant data management, as well as providing direct advocacy on behalf of clients, grass roots organizing, outreach, drafting documents and correspondence, and training.

The successful candidate will be expected to execute projects with a high degree of independence, while working within DRM’s team-oriented atmosphere.


  1. Bachelor’s degree or other relevant life experience.
  2. Strong commitment to equity, inclusion, economic and social justice, and the rights of people with disabilities.
  3. Excellent computer skills and eye for detail.
  4. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written; and an aptitude for computer programs.

Location and Compensation:

Falmouth, with flexibility for remote work options. This position includes regular travel throughout Maine.

Salary range: $40,000-45,000.
