Rights of People with Intellectual Disabilities and Autism Training

Learn about the rights of adults with intellectual disabilities and autism in Maine. This training will explore the sources of these rights, the protections provided under Maine law, and how to recognize and address rights violations. Through discussion and real-world examples, participants will gain practical knowledge to help promote and protect individual rights and support people in a manner that respects their autonomy, dignity, and legal protections.

This training is open to individuals receiving services, family members, guardians, case managers, service providers, and anyone interested in disability rights.

Interactive Rights Challenge
The training will conclude with a fun, interactive knowledge challenge featuring rights-based scenarios and real-world hypotheticals designed to reinforce key concepts and spark discussion. Participants will have the opportunity to apply what they have learned and test their understanding of Maine’s developmental disability rights framework.
