Jessica Payson, Esq., PhD.

Prior to beginning her career in law, Jessie was a professor of philosophy for many years specializing in ethics and social/political theory.  In law school, she learned to translate her passion for social justice teaching and advocacy to the legal field.  Highlights of her legal experience include externing at the First Circuit Court of Appeals, representing clients in family matters and juvenile defense at the Cumberland Legal Aid Clinic, and leading the Maine Law chapter of the American Constitution Society.  She is the recipient of Maine Law’s 2023 Civil Rights Law Award. Jessie was born and raised in midcoast Maine, and is currently living in Portland with her partner and two dogs.
